Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Koi kissi ka nahin,
Yeh jhoothe naatey hain,
Naaton ka kya?
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Hoga maseeha
Hoga maseeha saamne tere
Phir bhi na tu bach paayega
Tera apna
Tera apna khoon hi akhir
Tujh ko aag lagaayega
Asmaan pe
Asmaan pe udnewaale
Mitti mein mil jaayega
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Sukh mein tere
Sukh mein tere saath chalenge
Duhkh mein sab mukh modenge
Duniyaawaale
Duniyaawaale tere bankar
Tera hi dil todenge
Dete hain
Dete hain bhagwaan ko dhokha
Insaan ko kya chhodenge
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Koi kissi ka nahin,
Yeh jhoothe naatey hain,
Naaton ka kya?
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Kaam agar yeh
Kaam agar yeh Hindu ka hain
Mandir kisne loota hain
Muslim ka hain kaam agar yeh
Khuda ka ghar kyon toota hain
Jis mazhab mein
Jis mazhab mein jaayaz hain yeh
Woh mazhab toh jhootha hain
Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa sab
Baatey hain, baaton ka kya?
Movie: Upkar (1967)
Director: Manoj Kumar
Singer: Manna Dey
Lyricist: Indeevar
Music Composer: Kalyanji Anandji
I am not a Manoj Kumar fan but I do love Pran. And Manna Dey! This seems like a particularly morose selection for our philosophy/life lessons/comment on life series but I would imagine there are days all of us feel this way, justifiably or because our minds are playing tricks on us. I do think though that our current socio-political climate justifies this mood, especially the last verse which appears at a different time in the movie but which have been combined in this video.
Overall, though, this song is here because I love Manna Dey’s voice, especially in this rendition. I fell in love with Manna Dey later in life. Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi were my first loves and then came Hemant Kumar. But when I discovered that ‘Aao twist karein’ and ‘Yaari hain imaan mera,’ and this number were all sung by the wonderfully talented Manna Dey, my heart expanded to make ample space for him. ~ R
