Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye
Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye
Dil unko dhoondhta hai
Gham ka singaar karke
Aankhen bhi thak gayi hai
Hain ab intazaar karke
Aankhen bhi thak gayi hai
Hain ab intazaar karke
Ik saans rah gayi hai
Woh bhi na toot jaaye
Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye
Roti hain aaj ham par
Tanhaiyan humaari
Roti hain aaj ham par
Tanhaiyan humaari
Woh bhi na paaye shaayad
Parchhaiyan haumaari
Badhte hi jaa rahe hain
Mayoosiyon ke saaye
Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye
Lau tharthara rahi hai
Ab shamm-e-zindagi ki
Ujdi huyi muhabbat
Mehmaan hai do ghadi ki
Ujdi huyi muhabbat
Mehamaan hai do ghadi ki
Mar kar hi ab milenge
Jee kar toh mil na paaye
Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye
Lo aa gayi unki yaad
Woh nahin aaye

This is a wonderful song. Strangely enough, there is another song in the same film - ‘Jab chali thandi hawa, jab uthi kali ghata, mujhko ae jaan-e-wafa, tum yaad aaye’ – that expresses the same sentiment, but in a much happier situation. Asha Parekh has performed equally well in both.
October 2 was her 77th birthday. She was one of the most successful actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1995, she stopped acting. She did, however, go on to direct and produce many television serials.
Asha’s list of accomplishments is long: She was the president of the Cine Artistes' Association from 1994 to 2000; the first female chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification from 1998 to 2001; the treasurer of the Cine and Television Artists Association; and one of its elected office-bearers.
Asha also received many Lifetime Achievement Awards from various institutions and the Living Legend Award from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
In her autobiography, The Hit Girl, Asha says she was in love with film director Nasir Hussain, who was already married. She did not wish to marry him, as she did not want to be a home-breaker.
With great respect, I dedicate this song to her. ~ S
