Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Phool tum gulaab ka, kya jawaab aap ka
Jo adaa hain woh bahaar hain
Aaj dil ki bekali aa gayi zubaan par
Baat yeh hain tum se pyaar hain
Dil tumhi ko diya re
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Chaahe tum mitaana, par na tum giraana
Aansoo ki tarah nigaah se
Pyaar ki oonchayi, ishq ki gehrayi
Poochh lo humari aah se
Aasmaa chhoo liya re
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Iss haseen utaar pe, hum na baithhe haar ke
Saaya ban ke saath hum chale
Aaj mere sang tu, goonje dil ki aarzoo
Tujh se mere aankh jab mile
Jaane kya kar diya re
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Aap ka yeh aanchal pyaar ka yeh baadal
Phir humein zameen pe le chala
Ab toh haath thaam lo, ek nazar ka jaam do
Iss naye safar ka waasta
Tum mere saakiyaa re
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Dil ka bhanwar kare pukaar
Pyaar ka raag suno
Pyaar ka raag suno re
Movie: Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963)
Director: Vijay Anand
Singer: Mohammed Rafi
Lyricist: Hasrat Jaipuri
Music Composer: S D Burman
Do you know anyone who doesn’t like this song? The humming, the music as the lead pair (and what a pair!) trip down the winding stairs of the Qutub Minar, the smile and mischief in Nutan’s eyes and the loose-limbed Dev Anand playing the mesmerized lover, Rafi sahab’s voice (oh that intoxicating voice). If you hadn’t realized it yet, I love this song. So, to commemorate Nutan’s birth anniversary (June 4), I thought this was a lovely song to choose.

I am surprised this is the first song we are featuring on the blog from Tere Ghar Ke Samne. It’s a delightful movie with some wonderful songs (I was torn between this and two others: “Tu kahaan yeh bataa” and “Sun le tu dil ki sadaa.” I finally chose this because I love the playfulness of this one and I wanted a happy song for Nutan’s birthday.). And if you have been a regular visitor on this blog then you know that I am rather fond of Nutan. Like I said, given all of this, I am surprised this is the first song from the movie we are featuring.
A bit of trivia. Apparently, Nutan’s son was born in 1961. This film was released in 1963, so the 26-year-old Nutan must have shot for it soon after she had given birth, as radiant and mesmerizing as ever. And the Dev Anand skipping lightly down the stairs was 39! ~ R
