Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat

Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat
Yaad aaye kissi se woh pehli mulaqaat
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat
Yaad aaye kissi se woh pehli mulaqaat
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat

Bheege tan mann, pade ras ki puhaar
Pyaar ka sandesa laayi barkha bahaar
Bheege tan mann, pade ras ki puhaar
Pyaar ka sandesa laayi barkha bahaar
Main na bolu
Main na bolu, aankhe kare akhiyon se baat
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat

Sun ke matwaale kaale baadalon ka shor
Rum jhum, ghum ghum, naache mann ka mor
Sun ke matwaale kaale baadalon ka shor
Rum jhum, ghum ghum, naache mann ka mor
Sapnon ka saathi chal raha hain mere saath
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat
Yaad aaye kissi se woh pehli mulaqaat

Jab milte ho tum toh kyun chhidte hain dil ke taar
Milne ko tumse main kyun tha beqaraar
Jab milte ho tum toh kyun chhidte hain dil ke taar
Milne ko tumse main kyun tha beqaraar
Reh jaati hain
Reh jaati hain kyun hothhon tak aake dil ki baat
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat
Yaad aaye kissi se woh pehli mulaqaat
Rimjhim ke taraane leke aayi barsaat

Movie: Kala Bazaar (1960)
Director: Vijay Anand
Singers: Geeta Dutt, Mohammed Rafi
Lyricist: Shailendra
Music Composer: S. D. Burman

It seemed like the season to revisit some rain songs. In that spirit, here is one of my favourites, particularly for the females: Waheeda Rehman and Geeta Dutt. Another lovely bit about this: monsoon in Mumbai! And oh yes, SD Burman’s music, which replicates the pitter-patter of rain on tin roofs!

Sorry about the video: the song only starts at 1.29 in case you want to skip forward. Or you could think of it as a little bonus Waheeda Rehman and Dev Anand. 😊 Also, the last verse is only available on the audio track, not on the video 😞 ~ R
