It’s been a few years since we started this blog and under the umbrella of different themes, we have, over the years, managed to get most of our favourite songs up here. So, we’ve decided on a deceleration, going from a post every Sunday to two posts a month, on the 10th and 20th.

I am starting the year, and the month, off with this gem from Umrao Jaan. The music and the acting both won National Film Awards. Rekha is beautiful in nearly every frame of this movie and her acting and Asha Bhosle’s voice, in addition to Khayyam’s music and Shahryar's lyrics, make almost all the songs unforgettable. So, this one was long overdue in my opinion. ~ R
