Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain

Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Chaahe thodi bhi ho yeh umr badi hoti hain
Chaahe thodi bhi ho yeh umr badi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain

Taj ya takht ya daulat ho zamaane bhar ki
Kaun si cheez mohabbat se badi hoti hain
Kaun si cheez mohabbat se badi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Chaahe thodi bhi ho yeh umr badi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain

Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Chaahe thodi bhi ho yeh umr badi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain

Do mohabbat bhare dil saath dhadakte ho jahaan
Sabse achchi woh mohabbat ki ghadi hoti hain
Sabse achchi woh mohabbat ki ghadi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain
Chaahe thodi bhi ho yeh umr badi hoti hain
Zindagi pyaar ki do chaar ghadi hoti hain

There is a Ben Jonson poem called ‘The Noble Nature’. Its last line is ‘in short measures life may perfect be.’ This song reminds me of that poem. I think, in essence, they contain the same idea: that life is little beads of happy moments strung together to make a memorable whole. I think all we can hope for from life is that the happy moments are what we remember longest and that these help ease the weight of the not-so-happy ones. And it need not be romantic love; some moments of sincere love between friends and family are just as priceless and can make for a remarkable life.
In the movie, this song is picturised on ill-fated lovers, but look at Bina Rai’s smile! That made for a tiny happy moment for me. May there be many beads of joy on our strings. ~ R
