Abhi alvida mat kaho doston
Na jaane kahan phir mulaaqat ho
Na jaane kahan phir mulaaqat ho
Kyunki…
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Khwaabon hi mein ho chaahe, mulaaqat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Khwaabon hi mein ho chaahe, mulaaqat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Yeh pyaar mein doobi hui rangeen fizayen
Yeh pyaar mein doobi hui rangeen fizayen
Yeh chehre, yeh nazre, yeh jawaan ruth, yeh hawaye
Hum jaaye kahin in ki mehak saath toh hogi
Hum jaaye kahin in ki mehak saath toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Khwaabon hi mein ho chaahe, mulaaqat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Phoolon ki tarah dil mein basaaye huye rakhna
Phoolon ki tarah dil mein basaaye huye rakhna
Yaadon ke chiraagon ko jalaaye huye rakhna
Lamba hain safar iss mein kahin raat toh hogi
Lamba hain safar iss mein kahin raat toh hogi
Khwaabon hi mein ho chaahe, mulaaqat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Yeh saath guzaare huye lamhaat ki daulat
Yeh saath guzaare huye lamhaat ki daulat
Jazbaat ki daulat yeh khayalaat ki daulat
Kuchh paas na ho paas yeh saugaat toh hogi
Kuchh paas na ho paas yeh saugaat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi
Khwaabon hi mein ho chaahe, mulaaqat toh hogi
Beete huye lamhon ki kasak saath toh hogi

I was never a fan of Salma Agha’s rendition of ‘Dil ke armaan’, but it was the only song of this movie I had heard. Then, while listening to a recommended playlist, this song popped up, and I heard it in entirety because I like Mahendra Kapoor’s voice (side note: I think, he doesn’t get the attention he deserves. That voice is amazing! It might not be considered as versatile as Mohammad Rafi or Kishore Kumar, but it is still powerful and thoroughly enjoyable.).
Anyway, Mahendra Kapoor’s voice caught my attention, but the lyrics also helped hold it. When the song had played out, I thought, gosh, I want this to be played at my funeral. I mean look at the last verse: ‘Even if nothing else remains, the wealth of the times spent together, the emotions, the thoughts, this gift will always remain.’ I refuse to think of this as only a romantic song. I think this is an every person song, whether they are/were ‘in love’ or not.

But I am not sure how to describe my mood—nostalgia or the joy of discovering a new song. Whatever it is, I am sharing it here 😊 ~ R
