Mud mud ke na dekh

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)
Zindagaani ke safar mein tu akela hi nahin hain
Hum bhi tere humsafar hain
(chorus)
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)

Aaye gaaye manzilon ke nishaan
Lehraake jhooma, jhuka aasman
Lekin rukega na ye karwaan
(chorus)

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)
Zindagaani ke safar mein tu akela hi nahin hain
Hum bhi tere humsafar hain
(chorus)

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)
Nainon se naina jo milaake dekhe
Mausam ke saath muskuraake dekhe
Duniya ussiki hain jo aage dekhe
(chorus)

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)

Duniya ke saath jo badalta jaaye
Jo isske saanche mein hi dhalta jaaye
Duniya ussiki hain jo chalta jaaye
(chorus)

Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
Mud mud ke na dekh, mud mud ke
(chorus)
Zindagaani ke safar mein tu akela hi nahin hain
Hum bhi tere humsafar hain
(chorus)

Singers: Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle
Lyricist: Shailendra
Music Composers: Shankar-Jaikishan
In the movie, this song is assigned to the more mercenary of the two women (i.e, a gorgeous Nadira). So, this philosophy is supposed to be poor advice. But I find great wisdom in ‘mud mud ke na dekh’ because I read it as not wasting time on regrets over the past but looking ahead. Although I do believe that regrets should be differentiated from lessons. Our past can offer some important insights that can help shape our future. But truly, regrets serve no purpose and can only stall us.
All of this, and like I said, a gorgeous Nadira! Manna Dey and Asha Bhosle sound amazing. The music is so interesting, cresting in the middle, I guess, when the male protagonist makes the decision to join in. And then of course the tempo of the song changes entirely and the sweet little ballerinas in the background morph into lovely flamenco dancers! I am not sure I enjoy the chorus repeating everything like a bunch of children learning the lyrics (!), but I do like the song. ~ R
