Hum The Woh Thi

Hum the woh thi woh thi hum the
Hum the woh thi aur sama rangeen
Samaj gaye na tarrara
Jaate the japan pahunch gaye cheen
Samaj gaye na
Yane yane yane pyaar ho gaya

Hum the woh thi aur sama rangeen
Samaj gaye na tarrara
Jaate the japan pahunch gaye cheein
Samaj gaye na
Yane yane yane pyaar ho gaya aha

Khoya main kaise uski baaton mein
Kehta hoon dam toh lene do ahhaha
Khoyi woh kaise meri baaton mein
Kehta hoon dam toh lene do ahhaha
Kya kya keh dala aankhon aankhon mein
Kehta hoon dam toh lene do ahhaha
He He He He

Hum the woh thi aur sama rangeen
Samaj gaye na
Jaate the japan pahunch gaye cheen
Samaj gaye na
Yane yane yane pyaar ho gaya

Oo mannu tera huwa
Ab mera kya hoga
Mannu tera huwa
Ab mera kya hoga

Choote bulbule dono naina phadke
Usne jab dekha mud ke wah wah wah
Jaise kehte ho sun o re ladke
Maine jab dekha mud ke wah wah wah
Phir dono ke dil dhak dhak dhak dhadke
Dono ne dekha mud mud ke hahaha

Hum the woh thi aur sama rangeen
Samaj gaye na
Jaate the japan pahunch gaye cheen
Samaj gaye na
Yane yane yane pyaar ho gaya

Oo mannu tera huwa
Ab mera kya hoga
Mannu tera huwa
Ab mera kya hoga

Thoda thoda sa lamba lamba sa
Dheere dheere usne kheencha ahaha
Phir uska pallu banke uska das
Dheere dheere maine kheencha ahaha
Gabrahat me phir apna apna hath
Usne kheencha maine kheencha aahaha
He he he he

Hum the woh thi aur sama rangeen
Samaj gaye na tarrara
Jaate the japan pahunch gaye cheen
Samaj gaye na
Yane yane yane pyaar ho gaya

Movie: Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958)
Director: Satyen Bose
Singer: Kishore Kumar
Lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri
Music Composer: S. D. Burman
The musical comedy Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, directed by Satyen Bose, was inspired by Kishore’s childhood trips from Khandwa to Bombay in his father’s 1928 Chrysler to visit Ashok Kumar. Its credits include “Introducing ‘Champion’ car, model 1928.”
Kishore Kumar produced the film hoping that it would flop and he would be able to evade paying income tax. He was annoyed at it being a hit that he gave away all its rights to his secretary Anoop Sharma, the official producer of the movie.
Most songs in the film, such as Paanch rupaiya baarah aana and Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si, are extremely funny. However, this song based on Tennessee Ernie Ford's The Watermelon Song, is special to me because of Anoop Kumar’s character singing ‘Mannu tera huwa ab mera kya hoga’. I used to sing that dolefully when others got things much earlier than me! ~ S
