Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda

Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Naino mein neel gagan dole
Naino mein neel gagan dole
Hooo
Hoke magan mera man dole
Hoye mera tan dole
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda

Ooo…ooo…
Baitha hua hai jogi koi dhool ramaye
Pahoonchi hai pujaran wahan
Dukh apna chhupaye
Aankhon mein aarti ki ek jyot jagaaye
Ek jyot jagaaye

Hooo
Dekh tumhe mera man dole
Hoye mera tan dole
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda

Ooo…ooo…
Sadhu hai koi ya koi mandir ka pujari
Aaya kisike dwaar pe banke jo gujari
Lage nahi nirash hai kis soch mein naari
Kis soch mein naari

Hooo
Dekh ke yeh mera man dole
Hoye mera tan dole
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Naino mein neel gagan dole
Naino mein neel gagan dole

Hooo
Hoke magan mera man dole
Hoye mera tan dole
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda
Chand mein dekhoon apna mukhda

Movie: Mano Na Mano (1955)
Director: B K Adarsh
Singer: Madhubala Zaveri
Lyricist: Indeevar
Music Composer: Hansraj Behl

Madhubala Zaveri was born on May 19, 1935, into a family of renowned singers. Her mother and aunt were All India Radio artists.
She recorded her first song for the film ‘Bhoole Bhatke’ (1952) for music director Manohar Arora. However, the four songs she sang for the film Rajput (1952) were released first because Bhoole Bhatke was delayed. Hansraj Behl was the music director of the film and is often credited to have introduced her to playback singing.
Although Madhubala had an active singing career during the 1950s, it ended in the early 1960s. Sadly enough, most of her songs don’t seem to have original videos. Her story, that is how little we know of it, reminds us why blogs such as this are needed—so that we don’t forget.
I chose this song because it is a solo, and her voice is clear and distinct in it. ~ S

(Note: I am unsure of how her surname is spelled. Some sites have it as Jhaveri. I have gone with the majority.)
