Hum toh mohabbat karega

Hum toh mohabbat karega
Duniya se nahin darega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega
Duniya se nahin darega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega

Chupke se aap toh dil leke chale jaate hain
Peechhe peechhe deewane phir bhi chale aate hain
Chupke se aap toh dil leke chale jaate hain
Peechhe peechhe deewane phir bhi chale aate hain

(Nutan: Meri jooti se)

Joota polish karega, ah ha
Joota polish karega, lekin tum pe marega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega

Thokkar se aur bhi armaan yeh jawaan hote hain
Duniya mein hum jaise aashiq bhi kahaan hote hain
Thokkar se aur bhi armaan yeh jawaan hote hain
Duniya mein hum jaise aashiq bhi kahaan hote hain

(Nutan: Arre, waah re majnu)

Laila laila karega, Laila… Laila
Laila laila karega, thhandi aahen bharega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega

Durr ho hoke aji, yun na sataao humko
Hum jiyen kaise bhala yeh toh bataao humko
Durr ho hoke aji, yun na sataao humko
Hum jiyen kaise bhala yeh toh bataao humko

(Nutan: Doob maro)

Doobega nahin tarega, chap chap, cha cha chap
Doobega nahin tarega, pyaar se hum nahin darega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega
Duniya se nahin darega
Chaahe yeh zamaana kahe humko deewana
Aji, hum toh mohabbat karega

 Movie: Dilli Ka Thug (1958)
Director: S D Narang
Singers: Kishore Kumar
Lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri
Music Composer: Ravi

I wanted a peppy number to mark the birth anniversary (August 4) of Kishore Kumar and look what I came up with, one that has him singing and acting silly! There’s another wild number in this film, ‘C.A.T, cat mane billi’, but this one is all Kishore, no Asha. This is how I remember the man, so this is how I am commemorating him today, although his repertoire as a playback singer covers sad, romantic, ridiculous, and fun. By the way, on an entirely different note, two movies in two years — Dilli Ka Thug (1958) and Anari (1959) — where Nutan is playing niece to a man who makes fake meds. What was going down in the late 1950s?! ~ R
