This song is beautifully rendered by Asha Bhosle, but it is difficult to imagine her singing this in a studio. Because Nutan emotes and lip syncs this so well that one can be fooled into thinking she is both acting and singing. She is dressed in ordinary garb, but her beauty seems to radiate through the simplicity of her attire. Her statuesque figure does not seem awkward; instead she seems light and graceful. As you can tell, I love Nutan on the screen. Her birthday is not until June 4, but I decided we could celebrate her a little early. Incidentally, I wonder if something about Nutan inspired lyricists with freedom of expression. Both this song and ‘Mora gora ang le le’ from Bandini seem to be wonderfully innocent but frank expressions of female desire. ~ R
