I thought it was completely unfair that S had the week that marked Gulzar’s birthday. So, I decided to revisit an old favourite, one that featured my favourite triumvirate: Gulzar, Kishore Kumar and R D Burman. And there's a special fourth element: directed by Gulzar!

Here is an anthem for all of us who are restless. And I have a suspicion Gulzar might well be of the number, what with this and ‘Raah pe rehte hain,’ ‘Humne dekhi hain,’ etc. When I first heard this, I thought it was perfect for the nomads among us. But now I think there is meaning in here beyond the literal. For those of us who have started something to then give it up because of disinterest or lack of determination, who have few lasting relationships, for us quitters, here is an echo of the perennial restlessness we feel. Happy birthday, Gulzar sahab. Thank you for putting those nebulous thoughts into such perfect words. ~ R
