Bahon mein chale aao

Bahon mein chale aao
Bahon mein chale aao
Ho, humse sanam kya parda
O, humse sanam kya parda
Ye aaj ka nahin milan
Ye sangh hain umar bhar ka
Shhh…shhh…shhh

Bahon mein chale aao
Ho, humse sanam kya parda
O, humse sanam kya parda

Hmmm….Hmmm…
Chale hi jaana hain
Nazar churake yun
Phir thami thi saajan tumne
Meri kalai kyun… haan?
Chale hi jaana hain
Nazar churake yun
Phir thami thi saajan tumne
Meri kalai kyun
Kissi ko apna banake chhod de
Aisa koi nahin karta
Shhh…shhh…shhh

Bahon mein chale aao
Ho, humse sanam kya parda
O, humse sanam kya parda

Kabhi kabhi kuch toh
Kaho piya humse
Ae kum se kum se aaj toh
Khulke milo zara humse
Kabhi kabhi kuch toh
Kaho piya humse
Ae kum se kum se aaj toh
Khulke milo zara humse
Hain raat apni
Jo tum ho apne
Kissika phir hume darr kya
Shhh…shhh…shhh

Bahon mein chale aao
Ho, humse sanam kya parda
O, humse sanam kya parda
Ye aaj ka nahin milan
Ye sangh hain umar bhar ka
Shhh…shhh…shhh

Bahon mein chale aao
Ho, humse sanam kya parda
Ho, humse sanam kya parda

Movie: Anamika (1973)

Director: Raghunath Jhalani

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

Lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri

Music Composer: R D Burman

Once again, I am shadowing S’s choices. Last week, S featured a song from ‘Anamika’. I decided to follow suit with another one from the same movie.
This blog and the need to research lyricists and composers has taught me that I am rather fond of Majrooh Sultanpuri. I have admired his songs without knowing they were his. While ‘Meri bheegi bheegi si palkon pe’ is undoubtedly beautiful, this is a sweet composition too. Jaya Bachchan, I believe, is adorable and she does justice to Lata Mangeshkar’s pitch variations (which remind me of Asha Bhosle’s ‘Raat akeli’). But what I find even more charming is a young Sanjeev Kumar trying to be a chivalrous gentleman and seeming a little stunned at the young woman propositioning him so sweetly. ‘Anamika’ has a couple of these rather adorable playful numbers. The other is ‘Logo na maro ise’. ~ R
